EW Panzers

Hi Everyone

Been a busy first couple of weeks in the new job but im loving it. Making terrain and writing articles beats customer service any day :)

My Early war army is finally finished - Yay!! (Well actually its just the first 1500 points but its a good start. Im looking forward to trying this out at Rallypoint in Hamilton in November.  A couple of games in and ive already noticed a few things the army is lacking. (Pics of the upgrades will follow in due course.)

I painted this army up for work - the first article can be seen here:  http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=53&art_id=2146

Command HQ of 2 Panzer 38(t) with 18T Recovery vehicle.

Panzer 2 c (early) platoon.

Panzer 38(t) Platoon 1 and 2.

8 Rads.

 The full 1500 Army.

Im Very happy with how this force has turned out, (considering it was painted over the last couple of week during my lunch breaks) Check out the Flames of War web site for lots of close up pictures.

Let me know what you think.

Looks good. I like the 2-color tank cammo, even though I didn't choose it for my EW tanks. Considering it's early war you get a lot of armor in 1500 points. Light tanks and armored cars seem very economic.

What's your plan to handle Matilda and CharB tanks? Just overwhelm them and get enough of your tanks on their objectives?

Hi Allan

Yeah i decided to do the 2 tone scheme because id already done a full mid war army in grey and didn't really want to do another one (even if the tanks were different.) 1500 is a good size for early war but i will probably expand it up to 1750 as we often play bigger games.

When i put the army together it was for work so i made a list that was themed and looked really good and i didn't really think about the tactical flexibility of the list - as it stands it has a real weakness against the heavy tanks of other armies. I have two answers add in Flak 88's or Add in Stuka's - im going with the Stuka's as they are an easy option to paint and fit the Blitzkrieg theme really well - in the 1500 point list i just need to remove one Panzer 38(t) and one Panzer IIc and i have enough point to take a flight of priority planes and have the extra rule that lets you roll two plane dice and choose the highest option. That should help take out the heavy tanks. Time will tell if this will work or not - it sounds good in my head. :)
