KK Generals Work in Progress

Ok im tired of mucking around with settings - here's some generals Ive been working on for my Prussian KK army.  Ive only just started them so they aren't too flash at the moment but they should look great when they are done.  Im really liking the poses that ive put together.  These figs (as with all my KK figs) are Old Glory 15's - I Highly recommend them.

What do you guys think?

Test pic

Ok so im still fiddling with the new camera - im still not super happy with how my pics are turning out so the next couple of posts will probably be dull as i take the same pic and display it several different ways till i get it how i think looks best for the blog. - please beer with me.  In a few days time i should have some war Jacks finished to put up.

But for now Man o Wars in 640 * 480

Kommander Sorscha

Ok here’s a quick pic of Sorscha.  I've tried a new technique of lighting effects from her fist and the weapon.  I think i have the idea right but i need to practice it a whole lot more.  Overall i'm not impressed with how the miniature has turned out and i can see myself redoing it.

do you guys like this?

This is also the first time i've tried adding a poll inside a post (has it worked?? time will tell).

Windows Live writer test

Ok here’s a quick test of trying out windows live writer.

If this works it might be a nicer way for me to post.

Redesign of my blog

Hi Guys

You may notice some changes to my blog - ok the whole thing looks different.  Basically i got tired of the basic design of my blog and wanted to do something a bit flashier that everyone might find a bit easier to navigate and more interesting to look at.  It will probably be a bit of a mess for a few days while i figure out how to get everything working and modify my logo ect..  Id like to know what you guys think even though its not finished.

Over to the right of the blog ive added a basic poll so vote yes or no depending if you like the look of the blog or not.

Khador Wardog

Ok so i've decided to display this one a little different. Instead of posting a step by step each day i thought i'd cut three pics into one - i kind of like the effect.

The war dog isn't quite finished but its pretty close. Should be finished within the next couple of days.  I think i've got the colours of the dog just about right.

Playful Pup!

Ive decided that my first Warcaster will be Kommander Sorscha.  Now while she is a rather excellent caster nad pretty tough she can get into trouble. Step in the War hound!.  As soon as i saw this model i knew i had to have it so when i ordered the Mk2 Rulebook and the Khador faction book i had to order the hound at the same time. Today a nice package arrived with my book and the pooch.   After having a good look at him ive decided rather than painting him up like a mastiff as PP have done i decided that he looks a lot like a Rottweiler.  Here's a pic of a rather happy looking Rottweiler. Im using this pic as inspiration to paint the fig.  We will see how close i can get.

More Koenig Krieg

Hey Guys

Just finished up putting Flags onto one of my Prussian Regiments for Koenig Kreig.  This unit represents the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 34th Regiment also know as - Prinz Ferdinand Infantry.

For anyone interested in learning more about this regiment and its service during the seven years war i highly recommend you go check out Project 7yw.

Now i want to quickly do a shout to an Aussie painter mate of mine Greg Perry who first got me into KK. In the beginning when i wanted to get into KK i had a massive amount of painting contracts coming in (lots of money but no time so i commissioned Greg to paint up my first 1000 pts. Since then Ive doubled the size of my army and spent time matching Greg's style he used so that now im not sure which regiments i did or he did. So not wanting to take credit for something i may not have done i give Greg the credit he is due if not with todays pic then certainly some of what will follow over the coming weeks.  Where ever you are currently mate thanks for getting me started into such a great game.

First fully finished Warmachine Unit

Here they are my first fully finished Warmachine models in over 5 years.  They took a few days longer than i thought they would but im really happy with how they have turned out.  The bases aren't 100% finished as you may have noticed but thats because im going to paint up the whole army to this standard before i finally decide on a suitable basing method.  Im thinking a bit of half melted snow and some grass at this stage. (any ideas welcomed) :)

Really keen to know what you guys think of the finished product.

Now to decide what to do next, Sorcha and a Juggernaut i think.

Man O Wars - nearly done

Ok over the last couple of days ive got very little done.  However the man o war unit is nearing compleation.  All that remains is a few highlights and basing and they should be done.  Ive seen a few people putting halfway (frontage) marks on the bases but im not sure if this is necessary or not.

Warmachine Man o Wars - part 3

Right got a bit further along over last couple of days.  Ive added the brass and gun metal colour to the miniatures and painted in the face detail. The finished armour is a bit more orange than it shows in the photo.  New shot will be of the finished unit.

Seven Years War Prussians

Hi Guys

Here's a little piece i finished up a little while ago for my Koenig Kreig Army. This little command stand Has Fredrick the Great (on the white horse) observing a conversation between a couple off his officers whilst several of his staff are observing whats happening in a nearby field.  The Miniatures are all 15mm and made by Old Glory.

For those of you who haven't heard of it Koenig Kreig is a fantastic little game that covers the Seven Years War period.  It's now in its third edition. For more info about this rules set go check out the website http://www.koenigkrieg.com/

Id love to know what you think. :)

Warmachine Man o Wars - part 2

Hi Guys

Last night i managed to get a couple more stages done on the Khador Man o Wars.  The first step was painting Black onto all the areas that are going to either be Brass or Steel coloured. The second stage was starting to build up the red the first step shown in Photo #2 is to paint several coats of thinned down Vallejo Red - this gives a nice clean bright red. Hopefully if i can get more work done on these tomorrow ill be able to show them a little further along.

Its slow work but i think they are going to look really good once they are finished.

Warmachines' back baby!!!

Warmachine MK2 has been out for a while now but up until Friday i had totally resisted the urge to get into another gaming system.

However at BF HQ and at my local club Warmachine is picking up a fair bit of popularity so i decided i better not wait any longer and went and order the Rulebook and a deck of the stat cards for Khador.

I actually have some miniatures that i brought about 4 years back and never managed to get started on them due to lots of contact work and my gaming interests being pulled in 10 different directions at once!  I figured today was a good starting point for getting something started.

I have a box of the Man O War Stormtroopers that i put together today and airbrushed on a layer of Tamiya Flat Red. (This is a great colour as a base for nice red armour). Once that was dry i added a wash over all the models using VP200 Brown Shade.  This is the result so far:

They don't look like much so far but a few hours more work tonight and im hoping they will turn out ok.

New Family Member

This is the newest member of the family - his name is Ozzy and he's a 15 week old Australian Terrier.

He's a total terror and its taken a week for me to take this pic as he almost never stops moving.  He's pretty smart and im hoping he with be a great companion for my wife for many many years.

Isn't he Cute!!! :)

Small FOW painting contract

Right ive sorted the settings on my new camera and can start posting some propper photos.
To get things started ive just put the finishing touches on a small Flames of War painting contract.  Ive always liked painting Russian tanks so this was a quick contract to do and lots of fun.  The base coat for these miniatures is Tamiya Nato Green airbrushed over a black undercoat. After that i lightened the panels on the tanks slightly and applied very slight highlights on the edges. Once this was done i painted the tracks Vallejo flat brown and then drybrushed them with Vallejo oily steel. Next was the tools and exuasts and then after allowing time to dry i put a coat of black magic wash over the entire surface of the miniatures.  This wash was then allowed to dry fully overnight. The final stage is to apply the decals and apply dirt and rust effects - this is done by watering down Vallejo Saddle brown with alot of water and then apply small patches of this watery mix to anywhere where dirt would naturally build up (its more of a put it where you think it looks good rather than a exact science). This mix takes around half an hour to dry properly so i normally head off to get a drink at this point.  After a drink and a quick game of fetch with my dog Maximus it was back to work - a nice easy final stage, a good spray of Mowana Flat varnish (this stuff is magic - if you havent tried it yet get some!!)

And finially the results.  I hope everyone likes them.  If your out there looking at this please leave a comment and let me know what you think.
